Caldo Foods

Caldo products feature heart-healthy staples from the Mediterranean diet, known to be the healthiest diet from around the world. Three of Caldo’s four founding members, the MK4, are from North Africa, where red pepper harissa sauces are served with every dinner, on every table, like salt and pepper. After the three relocated to America, they discovered that harissa could only be found in ethnic food markets, sold in unappealing cans and tubes.

The fourth of our founding members, born and raised in America, thought ketchup sauce was as adventurous as anyone needed – until vacationing in Tunisia, where she tried harissa for the first time: It. Was. Spectacular! After arriving back in America, and using up the only jar of Nana’s homemade harissa, she looked everywhere locally for the sauce.

After finally locating a jar in a gourmet cooking market, she discovered that it wasn’t anything close to the sauce she had fallen in love with.
